A Chaldean American Storyteller

A feature documentary tracing Chaldean identity from ancient Mesopotamia to modern-day America — exploring heritage, storytelling, and cultural continuity across centuries and continents. The Chaldeans are the indigenous people of Iraq, inheritors of the world’s first written language, and one of the oldest surviving civilizations on earth. Most of the world has never heard their story. This film changes that.

Through Weam Namou’s own journey as a Chaldean American author and filmmaker, the documentary weaves together personal memory, ancestral history, and the living culture of a community that has carried its identity through war, diaspora, and displacement — and is still here.

At its heart, this is a story about what it means to be a keeper — of memory, of practice, of the ancient ways that modern life has tried to erase. And why that knowledge matters more now than ever.
